Vigevano, Lombardia

We'd spent a number of days in Milan, comprising of shopping, sight-seeing and an awful lot of walking. It seemed like there wasn't much left to do, except maybe find some good restaurants. So instead of doing more of the same, we booked train tickets to the nearby town of Vigevano. I'd certainly never heard of it, and didn't expect much, but boy- was it pretty.

We found it to be a lot quieter than Milan. The shops closed and opened at unusual hours, and many of the paths had few people on them. It was peaceful, and the food we had in the main piazza was really delicious. Having found Milanese food a little underwhelming, eating in Vivegano was such a treat.

From the top of the Bramante Tower, we got a good view of the small town. All of the orange-y roofs in the heat gave a beautiful picture of Italy. It was special to see it really, the sun beating down on us.

The cathedral was magnificent, again, a quiet spot. It was a perfect demonstration of devotion; it was so clear to me how much the people who built it wished to glorify their god, and the mood of the place was very sacred and peaceful.

I really enjoyed our day-trip to Vigevano. It was calming and pleasing to the eye.

  4. Oh wow, I've never even heard of this place but it looks absolutely gorgeous! Your photos are stunning, Anna. And like Olivia below, I'd love to see a post about how you travel - like if you find deals, where and how do you find them, the types of places you look to stay in, etc. I think it'd be a fab read!

  5. i've never been to milan so the first thing that popped in my mind was a milano-styled pizza (not sure if this is a thing or just something this pizza restaurant i love made up) and then bam, there's a picture of pizza in this post. and i'm scrolling through these at 23:33. i'm a mess drooling for pizza in the middle of the night, oh noes. regardless, this was such an interesting trip! you're lucky and you took beautiful photos and i envy you for traveling a lot! :P

  9. Thank you! It's hard to pin down. I don't travel that often, but when I do, I usually try to go to two towns or cities at once. Also having friends/relatives in other places makes for cheap travel! I will look into doing a post on it as suggested by Olivia above :)

  11. Oh, my. It looks so stunning! I've just come back from a trip around the med - we visited a few places in Italy but sadly not Milan. I'm hoping to go back one day and explore further as it looks so pretty! I'd never heard of Vigevano but I'd definitely love to visit if I get to the area one day. The photos overlooking the city from the tower are beautiful! x
